HANOI, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Over 1.2 million computers in Vietnam have been infected with W32.XFileUSB which can delete data on USB drives, according to Vietnamese leading computer security firm BKAV on Wednesday.

W32.XFileUSB tries to wipe out data on USB drives and replace them with malware, as well as creates fake icons of drives or shortcuts of data files. When users open the malware or the fake icon or shortcut, the virus is activated and spreads to other computers.

Virus infections made computer users in Vietnam to suffer losses of 12.3 trillion Vietnamese dong (544 million U.S. dollars) in 2017, up from 10.4 trillion Vietnamese dong (460 million U.S. dollars) in 2016, said BKAV.
