HANOI, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam imported over 12.8 million tons of oil and petroleum products worth 7 billion U.S. dollars this year, seeing respective year-on-year surges of 9.2 percent and 37.7 percent.

Meanwhile, Vietnam imported roughly 1.4 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas worth 732 million U.S. dollars, up 13.4 percent in volume and up 48 percent in value, the country's General Statistics Office said on Friday.

Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company, which runs Vietnam's biggest oil refinery Dung Quat in central Quang Ngai province, estimated that the country's annual demand for petroleum products will stand at some 6.5 million tons, and for diesel around 8.5 million tons in the 2018-2022 period.
